The goalkeeper joined the Turkish club on a two-year loan, but had some words for the Anfield faithful
Loris Karius thanked Liverpool fans for the support shown to him during his time at the club.
The 25-year-old joined Turkish club Besiktas on a two-year loan and, as well as thanking his new club’s fans for their enormous welcome, he posted the following to the Anfield faithful on his social media accounts.
“I’m proud to be part of the famous @besiktas family now.
“Your welcome at the airport yesterday was simply overwhelming! I will give it my all to win as many titles as possible with Beşiktaş.
“A big Thank You goes out to all of the Liverpool fans for the support until now – you indeed never let me walk alone.”
Karius was heavily criticised following Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final when mistakes cost his club goals and he appeared to have lost a lot of confidence during the club’s pre-season preparations.
However, at Anfield, against Torino, he was given a rousing reception when he replaced Alisson in the 3-1 win.
And this is how Besiktas fans welcomed him to Turkey.
