Paris Saint-Germain’s hopes lie in Watford’s hands

Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré is reportedly the unexpected key to Paris Saint-Germain’s pursuit of Everton star Idrissa Gueye.

Starting off with Gueye, PSG’s pursuit of the midfielder has been well documented over the past few weeks.

According to a recent report from Telefoot, the player was closing in on a move to Paris.

Though, there hasn’t been much news on that since.

The French giants look to be in the market for a new midfielder with Adrien Rabiot leaving the club.

Abdoulaye Doucouré is another player that PSG have been linked with.

However, Doucoure recently claimed that he will finish the season with Watford despite links.

Now, there’s been an astonishing report that suggests the Frenchman is key to PSG’s move for Gueye.

Transfer merry-go-round

That is because according to France Football, Everton will only sanction a move to PSG for Idrissa Gueye if they are able to sign Doucouré.

However, that is going to be very difficult.

The report continues by claiming that Watford want €50million for the player and that has put a spanner in the works.

‘Everton is not against a sale [of Gueye], but wants to buy Doucouré to replace him. An operation impossible for the moment because Watford claims 50 M € for his French midfielder. Which blocks all negotiation.’

If reports are to be believed, it looks as though both Gueye and Doucoure will be going nowhere this month.

Though, if Everton were able to agree a fee for Doucoure then it could really set the wheels in motion.

Marco Silva suggests Everton won’t give him money for new signings

That is unlikely after Marco Silva’s comments today.

The Portuguese boss has suggested that Everton will have no money to spend in January.

If that is the case, neither Everton or PSG will be getting their man.
