Tottenham star set for China move, West Ham will NOT sack Pellegrini, Leicester line up Chelsea raid

Plus, Real Madrid ace keen to join Ronaldo at Juventus and Jose Mourinho expects key man to sign new Man United deal

While the transfer windows in England and across Europe are now closed, the gossip continues.

Here’s the latest news and rumours in Monday’s newspapers and online…

Manuel Pellegrini is facing the first signs of mutiny at West Ham after just four games – but he is not in imminent danger of the sack. Booed off after the 1-0 home defeat by Wolves, Pellegrini still has nothing to show for his £100 million makeover in the summer with the pointless Hammers anchored to the Premier League seabed. But there is no suggestion that owners David Gold and David Sullivan will copy Crystal Palace, who jettisoned Frank de Boer after four consecutive defeats for starters 12 months ago. (Daily Mirror)

Leicester are keeping tabs on former star Danny Drinkwater with a view to taking him back to the King Power Stadium from Chelsea in January. The England international, who helped the Foxes win a Premier League title in 2016, has struggled to hold down a regular first-team place at Chelsea. (Daily Express)

Mousa Dembele is set to quit Spurs for a mega-money switch to China in the January. Super League side Beijing Sinobo Guoan hope to land him at the second attempt. Dembele’s contract runs out next summer, which means he can sign a pre-contract with an overseas club in the new year. (The Sun)

Manchester United organised a private jet to fly Diego Godin to Old Trafford on Deadline Day – but were forced to cancel it after the deal broke down. Jose Mourinho was desperate to land a centre-back on the final day of this summer’s transfer window, and was linked with everyone from Jerome Boateng to Toby Alderweireld. (Daily Mirror)

Jose Mourinho believes David De Gea will still commit to the new deal awaiting his signature. But he admits if he were the one sitting down with his keeper, pen would already have been put to paper. Talks over a contract to keep the Spanish star at Manchester United until 2023 were supposed to have been concluded successfully three months ago. (The Sun)

Pep Guardiola’s ruthless treatment of Leroy Sane has got the rest of Manchester City’s players fearing for their places. Sane was dropped from the squad for the Premier League champions’ 2-1 win against Newcastle on Saturday. (London Evening Standard)

Real Madrid ace Marcelo is targeting a move to Juventus to reunite with former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. Brazilian left-back Marcelo is into his 13th season at Real but is now ready to jump across to Serie A giants Juve to team up with Ronaldo, who made the move from the Spanish capital to Turin this summer in a £99million deal.
