The Premier League clubs have been chasing Alex Sandro for the past two years, with Juve rejecting “a very big offer” for the left-back in 2017. Now, though, reports in Italy say he is on the verge of signing a new contract
Manchester United transfer target Alex Sandro is close to signing a new deal with Juventus, according to multiple reports.
The Brazil left-back, whose contract runs out in 2020, has previously been linked with moves to Old Trafford, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
But speculation surrounding his future is set to end when he puts pen to paper on a new three-year deal.
Italian publication Calciomercato says Sandro will extend his stay in Turin after reaching an agreement with Juventus chiefs.
The Serie A leaders are expected to release an announcement soon.
It comes as a huge blow to Jose Mourinho, who has been in the market for a left-back since arriving at Old Trafford in 2016.
Luke Shaw’s injuries and form have forced Mourinho to play Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian out of position at left-back, though the former Southampton man has been one of the club’s better players this season.
Sandro, 27, has been an ever-present in Juventus’ domestic dominance, winning three Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia trophies.
In 2017, it looked like the player was on the verge of leaving Juve, but the club’s chief executive Giuseppe Marotta said he rejected “a very big offer” from Chelsea.
“He said he wants to stay here, so we sent the offers right back where they came from,” he explained.
