Liverpool wonderkid’s assist record this season puts Manchester United star Jesse Lingard to shame

The Red Devils ace has been compared to Andres Iniesta but it’s the Merseyside starlet who is actually giving forwards ammunition

Liverpool wonderkid Trent Alexander-Arnold has had a magnificent season.

Sometimes you need to remind yourself the player is just 20-years-old and in just his second campaign as a starting first-team player.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to start his second Champions League final in a row in two weeks’ time

He’s only getting better too and ended the Premier League season with five assists in his last four games as he did his utmost to hand the Reds the title.

It wasn’t to be for Liverpool, but Alexander-Arnold’s performances may well have secured him an England starting role at the UEFA Nations League finals in Portugal this summer.

He has already been called up to a preliminary Three Lions squad alongside Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard.

And Alexander-Arnold’s astonishing creativity this year has put the Red Devils ace to shame, especially given Lingard has been compared to Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta in the past.

Overall, in the Premier League alone, the Liverpool right-back has tallied 12 assists for team-mates this season… but attacking midfielder Lingard has managed just 10 for Man United in four top-flight campaigns.

It’s a remarkable statistic, and one which might just inspire the Red Devils ace to up his game for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2019/20.

It looks like they will need it.

It has been a mixed season for Lingard and Man United
