Man United fail to qualify for Champions League
Manchester United’s season looked all but over back in December before Jose Mourinho was sacked.
But when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge, United actually looked like they may turn their campaign around and qualify for the Champions League.
OGS even got United to go on a 13 match unbeaten run in the Premier League.
However, around the time Solskjaer was appointed as permanent boss, the results started to decline.
United have now won just one of their last five league outings and as a result, will be playing Europa League football next year.
Neville’s advice to Solskjaer
Former Man United star Gary Neville has since offered Solskjaer a solution on how to end United’s poor form and rebuild the club.
Neville claims that Man United need to cleanse both the dressing room and the club:
“What pains me more is that the two clubs that I dislike the most [Liverpool and Manchester City], I see them doing everything right. I see a spirit, a hunger, a resilience, a toughness, going until the end. Forget the quality, the quality is there as well.
“Ole’s got a two-stage job for Manchester United now. The idea that United should be talking about winning the Champions League and the Premier League at this moment is nonsensical. Forget it.
“The first thing they have to do is cleanse the dressing room, cleanse the club. That’s from the top to the bottom, to be honest.
“It doesn’t just start in the dressing room, above that needs to be dealt with as well. They need someone to run the football side of the club.”As quoted by the Independent.
One player Man United may be looking to sell is Anthony Martial.
Solskjaer is said to be unhappy with the Frenchman’s behaviour when warming-up vs Chelsea and now the Metro are reporting he could be sold in the summer.
The inconsistent Paul Pogba is also being linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
