Belgium midfielder, who is out of contract next summer, hurt his ankle in the opening stages against Wolverhampton Wanderers
Tottenham Hotspur have been handed yet another injury blow with the news Mousa Dembele is set to be out for six weeks.
The Belgian star hurt his ankle in the opening stages of Spurs’ dramatic 3-2 win Wolverhampton Wanders and was forced off the field.
Dembele has been hit by a string of minor injuries and is often limited to just 60 minutes when he starts but he will now be absent again, this time for a long spell.
The ankle ligament issue should have cleared up in time for the busy festive period but his reintroduction could be slow given the fixture pile-up.
Spurs do though, have better news about Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama who have both returned to training ahead of their game with Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.
Dier (thigh) and Wanyama (knee) have both been absent since the end of October.
Dembele has also been linked with a move to Juventus as they hunt for a new midfielder to bolster their Serie A title bid.
