Everton have ‘set its sights’ on move for Nabil Fekir

Ambitious move for the Toffees?

In one of the strangest reports this week, Everton are reportedly eyeing a move for Lyon star Nabil Fekir with his contract set to expire in 2020.

Nabil Fekir has been an ever-present in the transfer headlines since last summer.

The player infamously nearly joined Liverpool but a deal fell through at the 11th hour.

However, he had to remain at Lyon but that didn’t stop him from being linked with other moves.

Chelsea were linked with a move for the Frenchman, as were Real Madrid in January.

Again, no move came to fruition and he quietly went about his business in France, scoring nine goals and assisting five in 21 Ligue 1 appearances.

Now, with Fekir approaching the last year of his contract a move this summer is looking likely and an unexpected name has been linked with a move.

Take with a pinch of salt

According to Calciomercato, Everton have ‘set its sights’ on Fekir with his contract nearing its end.

The Toffees were expected to impress this season after a strong summer window but that hasn’t been the case.

Marco Silva has struggled in his first campaign at Everton but if he stays on as boss this summer, much more will be expected next season.

Though, if Everton could somehow beat their Merseyside rivals Liverpool to the signing of Fekir, that would send waves through the Premier League.

However, you have to take this report with a pinch of salt considering how unlikely it is Everton would be able to get a deal done.

Andre Gomes provides update on Everton future

Fekir isn’t the only midfielder Everton may want to sign this summer.

While signing Fekir is very unlikely, signing Andre Gomes is much more achievable.

That is because the player has opened up on his future at the club.

Gomes has impressed during his time at Everton on loan but may have to return to Barcelona this summer.
