Cristiano Ronaldo this evening netted his 20th goal of the season during Juventus’ 3-0 victory over Sassuolo.

Sassuolo vs Juventus

The Bianconeri travelled to the Mapei Stadium for their latest Serie A outing earlier today.

Max Allegri’s men headed into proceedings hoping to extend their lead atop the Italian top-flight to a hefty 11 points.

However, Juve had proven uncharacteristically inconsistent of late, having first scraped to a fortunate win at Lazio, before being eliminated from the Coppa Italia courtesy of a 3-0 drubbing at Atalanta, and then throwing away a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 with Parma last time out.

Juve dominate

The Italian champions, though, steadied the ship this evening, eventually emerging from Modena with a comfortable 3-0 win.

Sami Khedira put the Old Lady in front with 23 minutes on the clock, slotting home after Cristiano Ronaldo’s initial effort had been well saved:

Ronaldo then went on to find the net himself 20 minutes from time, after getting on the end of Miralem Pjanic’s pinpoint corner:

And Emre Can rounded out the game’s scoring in the 86th-minute, finishing off a sweeping Juventus move to send the Bianconeri back to Turin with a deserved 3 points.

Ronaldo milestone

While Juve’s latest win proved an important one in the club’s quest to retain their Serie A crown, it also proved a significant one for one of the Bianconeri’s star men.

The player in question is Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Portuguese attacker’s goal at the Mapei Stadium having come as his 20th of the campaign, giving rise to a remarkable statistic:
