Hordes of Chelsea supporters have taken to Twitter this evening to criticize manager Maurizio Sarri over his use of N’Golo Kante.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 Chelsea
The Blues travelled to Molineux for a Premier League clash with Wolves a short time ago.
Sarri’s men headed into proceedings on the back of a 2-0 victory over Fulham last time out, though they have looked some way short of their best over recent weeks.
And the worryingly-lacklustre form of the capital giants carried over into tonight’s trip to Wolves, as Chelsea eventually fell to a disappointing 2-1 defeat.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek handed the visitors the lead in the 18th-minute, with the scoreline having remained at 1-0 until just before the hour-mark.
And it was from here that Chelsea’s collapse began, as a quickfire pair of goals from Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota turned the clash on its head by the 63rd-minute.
The Blues huffed and puffed over the remaining half-hour, but, in the end, proved unable to break down the home side’s back-4.
Sarri’s Kante conundrum
As such, Chelsea’s defeat saw them slip to 4th in the Premier League table, a full 10 points behind leaders Manchester City.
And while there were a whole rake of problems on show for the London-based outfit once again tonight, many of the club’s fans were keen to focus on one particular aspect of manager Maurizio Sarri’s player selection and tactics.
The aspect in question was the Chelsea boss’ decision to once again deploy N’Golo Kante on the right-hand side of a midfield 3, rather than his natural holding position at the base of the Blues’ trio in the middle of the park.
This was despite Jorginho’s absence from Sarri’s starting XI, with Cesc Fabregas having instead been deployed in a deep-lying playmaker role.
‘Put Kante where he belongs!’
As such, Chelsea’s fans have seemingly reached breaking point regarding their French midfield enforcer being continually played out of position, with a roundup of some of the best Tweets pertaining to the situation showcased below:
Just dont get it sarri. Get kante back in front of that fucking back 4 admit your wrong and move on. Why drop pedro and giroud when willian and morata are so shit. Oh and also time to fuck Alonso off he can’t defend. Ps start getting CHO involved. It ain’t rocket science #chelsea

Sarri still doesn’t know his game play eliminates Kante.

We want Kante back as DM! Sarri ball or not.
Return Kante to DM and save us all these red faced moments, we don’t have a Koulibally to shade three keeper. #chelsea

Same old story form Sarri! Making comments about his system! CHANGE THE BLOODY SYSTEM!! AND PUT KANTE WHERE HE BELONGS!

Kante= worlds best CDM yet in Sarri’s system wide right he looks lost, average & not worthy of starting games, another given a humungous new deal!
Willian= never rated him since he signed.doesnt score or assist enough & slows play down way to much.

‘No clue how to utilise Kante’
I still don’t get this whole ‘deep lying pivot’ role that Sarri insists on, I’d rather have Kante defending as a DM and having Jorginho develop into more of a Modric/prime Favregas etc and create a bit closer to the attackers #MOTD

Can someone tell Sarri Kante is a proven DM. He doesn’t need to “developed” into a CAM

The major thing sarri needs to do is play kante as a holding midfielder in a 4-2-3-1

Well the fact Sarri believes Kante ain’t good enough for he position he has been regarded as the best in the world at and constantly Sticks with Morata is making Me think is he as good as people once first thought ?

Its so clear from sarri’s recent comments that he has no clue on how to utilise kante in the way ranieri and conte did… when he figures it out, chelsea will be tough competition with jorginio and kante together
