Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Sean Morrison struck for the visitors on the south coast
Cardiff City claimed a huge victory on the south coast as they beat Brighton 2-0 at the Amex on Wednesday night.
While some of the brightest talents in Europe were on display in the Champions League, the sole Premier League fixture on the night provided fabulous entertainment.
Goals from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and captain Sean Morrison ensured all three points would be returning to the Welsh capital in this basement battle.
Neil Warnock‘s men are now two points behind the Seagulls, despite having played a game more, to ensure there will be a thrilling finale to the end of the season.
Brighton’s Solly March twice went close in the early stages but it was the visitors who took the lead 22 minutes into the game.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing finished off a fine counter-attack by the Bluebirds when he curled the ball home from 25 yards.
Dale Stephens had Brighton’s best chance to hit back but his shot was blocked for a corner and the visitors led 1-0 at the break.
Cardiff were 2-0 ahead five minutes into the second half and the goal came from Sean Morrison.
