Liverpool & Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt

Tuesday’s edition of Bild has linked Liverpool with Ajax centre-half Matthijs de Ligt.

Liverpool fans may be forgiven for a sense of Groundhog Day.

Bild suggest that Matthijs de Ligt could be Jurgen Klopp’s “next triumph” after Liverpool beat Tottenham in the Champions League.

Of course, this isn’t the first time links between Liverpool and de Ligt have cropped up.

The 19-year-old Ajax captain is believed to be on his way out of Amsterdam this summer.

However, Gulliem Balague has previously reported that, while Liverpool have considered trying to sign de Ligt in the past, it’s unlikely the defender will move to Anfield this summer.

Jurgen Klopp speaks to Sport Bild

After winning the Champions League, Jurgen Klopp has also given an interview with Sport Bild.

The German outlet pushed Klopp on a potential move to Bayern Munich. Klopp replied:

I like Franz Beckenbauer – and he likes me. But I have a long-term contract in Liverpool.

Both Bayern and Borussia Dortmund have very good coaches. And what could be in five years or more, I do not know. Maybe there will be completely different coaches that breakthrough.

Klopp was then asked if he was worried about Liverpool’s star players leaving Anfield. The German coach said:

I think the players know what an extraordinary club they’re playing for, so I’m not worried about that.
