Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka is injured before Newcastle

Arsenal vs Newcastle

With the international break out of the way, we can finally get back to some Premier League action.

Arsenal fans will have to wait slightly longer than most though as they don’t play a league game till Monday, at home to Newcastle.

The Gunners are much better at home this season and will be keen to take advantage of that as they look to cement their place in the top four.

Unai Emery’s side do currently sit 4th in the league but they are just three points adrift of 6th place Chelsea.

Newcastle, on the other hand, sit 13th in the division and look likely to spend another campaign in the Premier League.

Xhaka injured with Switzerland

Heading into the key clash with Newcastle, Arsenal could be without Granit Xhaka.

The midfielder has been on international duty with Switzerland and started in their 3-3 draw with Denmark on Wednesday, scoring a superb thunderbolt.

However, the Arsenal star would have to be taken off towards the end of the game.

Swiss boss Vladimir Petkovic has since revealed that Xhaka is injured and asked to be taken off vs Denmark:

“He could not stay on the pitch. He asked me ten minutes before to be replaced. Granit had adductor problems, he could not do any more.”
